Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee Controversy

Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee: Ramadan 'Scandal'

KUALA LUMPUR, (MLP) - The two 'sex bloggers' are back with another shocking online scandal. Their photo post on 'Selamat Berbuka Puasa' has been shared virally across Facebook because of their insensitivity towards the Muslim community.

The duo posted a photo with them eating 'Bak Kut Teh' (a non-halal popular pork dish) with the common Ramadan greetings 'Selamat Berbuka Puasa' on the top and the Malaysia's Halal logo is embellished at the bottom the photo.

Their shenanigans has caused Facebook users to burst out in disgust, some even asking the couple to stop using 'cheap publicity stunt' to gain fame.

Previously, Alvin and Vivian has caused a nationwide uproar when they post elicit photos and videos on their personal blog; 'Sumptuos Erotica' which has caused Alvin to lose his NUS scholarship in Singapore. The couple managed to get onto the media's radar and stayed as the trending topic for one whole month.

Dr M: Couple who insulted Islam must be severely punished

SHAH ALAM, (Bernama) - Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the act of ridiculing Muslims and the month of Ramadan by blogging couple Tan Jye Yee dan Vivian Lee could affect the harmony in society.

Regarding the couple as irresponsible, Dr Mahathir said provocations involving religion to the extent of trampling on the sensitivities of the people of numerous communities, specifically Muslims should not be done because it was feared could to lead to riots.

"Saying things which can make people angry may cause them to retaliate and cause enmity. These people have no common sense. They are stupid but cannot be taught," he said.

Speaking to reporters after breaking fast with the staff of Proton here tonight, Dr Mahathir opined that harsh punishments must be meted out against the couple as a lesson.

"If they cannot be put under restricted residence, maybe other actions can be taken. But I think the law does not allow their citizenships to be stripped from them," he said when asked on a proposal that the couple be stripped of their citizenship.

The couples, prior to this, were condemned by many quarters after they downloaded a picture of themselves enjoying Bak Kut Teh with a caption which offended the sensitivities of Muslims on their Facebook.

During the function, Dr Mahathir also handed out Hari Raya contributions to 18 widows and children of Proton workers and 53 orphans from the Baitul Hidayah Care Centre.

Ppihak berwajib "wajib" menyelesaikan masalah seperti ni agar tidak terulang lagi, demi menjaga nama baik dan Negara Malaysia tercinta ni, malu la kalau kes macam ni pun Malaysia tak boleh nak handle.. esh ~ esh ~ esh ~
